Does a dirt obsessed word nerd really need an FAQ? Who knows, let’s find out.

How did you decide to write a book?

Oh my gosh! I have wanted to be an author since I could read. I remember looking up at the spines of all the book in the library and seeing all the names on the spines. I would look up and think, maybe, just maybe, someday I could figure out how to get my name on one of those spines.

Then adulting happened and I managed to create all sorts of reasons that I wasn’t worthy or good enough and a whole lot of other bullshittiness.

Whats up with your book being a collection?

I spent a lot of time saying I was going to write a book someday. I actually have several half or partial books in the works. Fiction, non0fiction… I’ve spent a lot of my adult life writing all sorts of things in avoidance of actually sitting down and hammering out an actual book.

Finally, I just looked at it all and thought, hey, there’s got to be something here. There’s got to be a way to tie it all together with a common thread and make this work.

Once I made the declaration that my book was complete, I had to scramble to actually get it that way.

I bluffed myself and it worked.

Why self-publishing?

I had made enough excuses that when I learned the querying process could take years and I may never get picked up by traditional publishing, I decided to pivot. I work at a branding firm that had helped a now best-selling author publish his work and I realized I could actually make self-publishing work for me too.
